Sue Black is your friend for death. When the police needs help identifying a dead body, or a part thereof, they call her. Black is a forensic anthropologist and anatomist and is an expert in identifying the dead. She has solved dismemberment-mysteries, helped catch murderers and secures evidence for war crimes tribunals. She has written two books about her career, All that remains: A life in death and Written in bone: Hidden stories of what we leave behind. Both outdo the most gruesome crime books in page-turning power. And she still is a beacon of wisdom, warmth, and empathy. She has a life peerage in the House of Lords. Much deserved.
