Tech- journalist Karen Hao is on TIME magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in AI, but she NEVER uses Chat GPT. In her book “Empire of AI” she is critical to the AI race and warns that it centers huge power and influence on very few, unaccountable players. Could this be a new phase of surveillance capitalism, where we first gave away our attention, and now our ability to think? Or can the trend be turned? Hao hopes so and reminds us that AI can be more than the hyped- up large language models, but we can´t leave it to the tech giants and have to take the power back.
